From June 4, the new series Follow the STD, produced by Fiction Valley, can be seen at Videoland. In addition to the already announced cast, Merel Baldé (better known as singer MEROL) also makes an appearance in this uncomfortably funny coming-of-age series about love, intimacy and friendship. She plays the role of Mrs. Veurtsen, a mathematics teacher with a quirky hobby. MEROL has also made a song especially for Follow the STD: Pheromones. This song will be released on the release day of Follow the STD.
Besides Merel, many other famous faces pass by in the series such as Shary-An Nivillac (girlfriend Rune), Victoria Koblenko (mother Jacob), Romana Vrede (deputy principal), Leona Philippo (music teacher), Martine Sandifort and Paul Groot (parents Rune), but also Soy Kroon, Rutger de Bekker, Toprak Yalçiner, Thijs Boermans, Sanne Langelaar, Titia Hoogendoorn and Sanne Wallis de Vries.
It was previously announced that the series is full of a lot of new acting talent, such as lead actress Damaris de Jong (Esmée), Reiky de Valk (Jacob), Hanneke van der Paardt (Rune), Tara Hetharia (Laura), Daniël Kolf (Lennart), June Yanez (Philiomenia) and Delano Watchman (Kareltje), alongside established talent such as Susan Visser and Jacob Derwig (Esmée's parents) and Benja Bruijning (school janitor).
About Follow the STD
When an STD spreads like wildfire through her year class and 18-year-old Esmée (Damaris de Jong) catches it, she wants to find out where it originated. She embarks on a thorough investigation to trace the STD but finds herself soon embroiled in her classmates’ exciting and varied sex lives. What starts as an innocent research question from a maths nerd becomes an obsessive quest for the similarities and differences between lust, sex, and love for others and herself. She soon realizes that there is no mathematical formula on how to deal with all those crazy hormones in your body.
The Videoland Original Follow the SOA is directed by Ties Schenk and produced by Fiction Valley. The script is written by creative producer Oscar van Woensel, Saar Ponsioen, Inge Nirvana and Judith Goudsmit. The eight-part series will be available exclusively at Videoland from 4 June.
